Leek Twinning trip to Este October 2015
A trip to the beautiful city of Venice was the highlight of this years visit to our twin town of Este in northern Italy.
Seventeen people from Leek including town Mayor Ben Emery joined with visitors from Este's other twin towns to celebrate the annual Eurofest.
This years theme was food and we were fortunate to have with us Mark Hudd a chef/lecturer from Buxton college. He spoke at the Friday morning conference on the use of local produce in his menus. On Friday evening Mark supervised a five course meal for one hundred guests, a huge achievement because Mark speaks no Italian and the students who helped him spoke very little English!
Saturday was spent in Venice, a real treat for those who had never had the chance to visit there before. Some of us did the whole experience, coffee in Saint Marks square and a trip on a gondola.
On Sunday morning we met at the town hall in to be welcomed by the Mayor of Este and were then treated to pizza.
A weekend in Este is always a great experience, very tiring, but also a great joy! We would be pleased to welcome anyone from Leek to join us.
