Este Flower Festival 2013

Myself (Carol Alcock), Chris Suter and my friend Jo Tasker flew to Treviso airport in Venice, on the 18th April. We were taking part in the Este flower festival. This was my 3rd visit to Este and Chris and Jo's first.

One of our hosts Anna, who Chris was staying with, picked us up from the airport. Jo and I were staying with a lady called Manuela. I met her 4 years ago and have remained friends ever since. She stayed with me 2 years ago. Her husband and children made us very welcome.

This year we decided that our theme was going to be an English Country Wedding. The twinning committee had sent a box of goodies to Este four weeks before. Included was a variety of items we needed to produce our display. The chairman of Este twinning committee took us to the wholesalers on friday morning.
We had a lot of fun choosing the flowers. Our colour scheme was white, green, pink and cream. We even had 1 euro left out of the budget.

Jo and I arranged beautiful items from pedastal, pew ends, cake topper, table arrangements in dishes, cups and saucers, jam jars, cup cakes, posy pads, hand tied bouquets, corsage, buttonhole and a birdcage. Jo had made some lovely bunting which we hung at the front of the gazebo.

Chris spoke a little Italian, so she was able to explain to people what we were doing and she was a brilliant sweeper upper. We had some lovely comments. Jo and I worked hard and enjoyed every minute of it.

The hospitality of our hosts was absolutely fabulous and we are hoping to go back next year.
