On the 24 th July 2015 Leek Twinning supported the Basil Nicholson Commemoration. The stall was well supported by committee members and hosts and had lots of photo memorabilia from 2002-2015.

Information was supplied for anyone interested in going to Este, or hosting people from Este. Although it was a dull day and later, turned to rain, it was well supported and many people took the information supplied. A lot of people were interest in Este and where it is situated. The display ended at 2-30pm.

Anyone interested in twinning or hosting should contact:- Maria on 01538 361191 (secretary)

On Thursday, November the 10th 2011 saw the arrival of 49 Italians, including the Mayors from Leek's twin town of Este and Chioggia, both in Italy, to take part in our remembrance weekend. There was also a group of students from Bad-Windsheim in Germany. On Friday morning all parties were given an official welcome by Leek's Mayor Barrie Cowie in The Nicholson Institute. Then on to Lichfield, The National Memorial Arboretum and Alrewas. Later several people attended a concert at St. Mary's Church Compton, Leek. On Saturday evening, Leek Twinning Committee provided a meal at Leek High School for hosts and guests. The entertainment was supplied by The Blythe Bridge Saxophone Ensemble and The Bersaglieri Band, which brought the evening to an end. Sunday morning started with a procession from Market Street to St. Edwards Church for a remembrance service, then on to the Cenotaph for laying of wreathes. The Royal Salute was taken in Derby Street, then all descended on to Fat Olives in Getliffes Yard for refreshments. In the afternoon the procession reformed at Ball Haye Sports and Social Club and proceeded to the memorial at Ball Haye Green to lay wreaths. Sunday evening saw everyone involved having a meal at Rudyard Lake Hotel. Entertainment was supplied by Bersaglieri Band and the Chioggia singers. Presentations were made by the Mayors of Este, Chioggia and Barrie Cowie, a special gift was given to the twinning committee for all their hard work. Monday saw the Italians taking a day trip to Liverpool followed by an evening with hosts. On Tuesday morning we said our goodbyes to the Italians as they journeyed home.
