WILDLIFE RESCUE ………. Contact numbers/Addresses

The Trust is not a wildlife rescue organisation, but often gets

queries. Here is a list of rescuers in our area.

GENERAL

R.S.P.C.A. WILDLIFE HOSPITAL. Open for animal casualties 24 hours. Fully equipped animal hospital with rehabilitation facilities.

Will give advice 9-5pm and can send officers out to major incidents.

AMERTON WILDLIFE RESCUE. General wildlife rescue and animal rehabilitation. Will sometimes send people out to incidents or assist in finding help elsewhere. Open 24 hours. Tel: 01889 271308. Address: British Wildlife Rescue Centre, Amerton Working Farm, Amerton, Nr. Stafford (Off A51 between Sandon and Rugeley)

WESTPORT WILDLIFE RESCUE. General wildlife rescue. Will sometimes send people out to incidents. Tel: 01782 811722 Address: Canal Street, Longport, S.O.T. ST6 4LU

WILDLIFE HOSPITAL TRUST. Deal with all species of wildlife.
Tel: 01844 292292. This helpline will put callers in touch with specialist carers and animal shelters in their area. Office hours and 24 hours ansaphone.

N.B. Ensure that the caller notes down the time and place where the casualty was found and supplies the information to the rescue organisation. This information may be needed when re-introducing the casualty to the wild after rehabilitation. In the case of protected species, it is also a legal requirement to document how the animal/s came into your possession.

PROTECTED SPECIES

NATIONAL BATLINE. Phone the Bat Conservation Trust on 0171 6272629. Phone for information and advice. Open 9-5.30pm

BATLINE WEST MIDLANDS. Tel: 01453 764450. This is English Nature's regional bat line which is managed by Cresswell Associates at Stroud in Gloucestershire. Office hours but also check their ansaphone at weekends. The Local Group can be contacted (non emergencies) c/o

LOCAL BAT CARERS. Phone Steve Gower either during office hours on 01538 386808 or evenings 01538 372388. He is a local case worker registered with English Nature.

Freephone number for reporting badger road casualties 0500 608708 N.B. This is no longer functional as the sponsorship for the freephone service has run out. Any reported sightings can be referred to the R.S.P.C.A.

SUSPECTED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AGAINST ANIMALS.
