LEEK WRITERS GROUP
Leek Writers Group is an informal and friendly local society dedicated to promoting writing and writers in North Staffordshire. Our members have a range of different ages and backgrounds, some of our regulars have written lots already while others are just starting to write. The group includes would be novelists, poets and people who just like putting their thoughts down on paper. One thing we all share in common though is an enthusiasm for writing, a desire to be published and a sense of humour! In other words, we don't take ourselves too seriously!
The Leek Writers Group is also affiliated to a national writers association and that means we are often the first place to find details of local and national writing competitions with cash prizes from all over the UK.
In 2005 Leek Writers organised a successful writer’s workshop as part of the literary side of the last Leek Arts Festival and several published authors have also visited our meetings as guest speakers in 2005.
We usually meet in The Swan in Leek on the first Monday of the month with proceedings kicking off at 7pm.
